FISHERMAN'S HOUSE ALTERATIONS

The clients, a young couple, purchased a semi-derelict former fisherman's house, situated in a Fife conservation fishing village, for their first home.

Barely 4 metres wide and on three floors, new structure was inserted to open up the first floor, and extended to the rear over the former scullery and smokehouse, with a glazed enclosure to provide open-plan space for living, food preparation and eating.

The winding stair had to be completely rebuilt, with headroom raised within a new lead clad swept-back dormer enclosure.

A mulit-fuel Raeburn stove purchased on E-bay provided by far the most cost effective solution to heating, hot water and cooking.
