100 ACRES, ST ANDREWS
The client identified a niche market for visitors, and in particular golf visitors in a quiet rural location. A masterplan was prepared for the site, formerly an arable farm, with self-contained accommodation and support facilities around a new wetland feature, practice greens, new woodland and paths.
As an appropriate typology and form both chalets and the ubiquitous steading were eschewed. Instead the building design combines the client's aspirations for the best of traditional East Neuk vernacular building and sustainable design, incorporating local reclaimed stone, larch, lime render and clay tiles.
The houses vary in size; some houses are linked to cater for larger groups. On-site accommodation includes a swimming pool and games room, stables and manager's house.
